MEET THE PERSON BEHIND THE PSUEDYNYM

Hi loves, welcome into the wardrobe of Elly. I am a writer first and foremost so it is in my blood to immortalise, hence the name MEMORYDOCUMENTATION. As a midsize thrifter from Melbourne, my blog will showcase tips and tricks to have a funky sense of style through combating the evil that is fast fashion. As a femme-presenting individual that walks this life as a woman, I have heard fashion be scrutinised and diminished to the definition of superficial despite its power as one of the most important forms of non-verbal communication. This ties into my stance of viewing each outfit that I put on as a costume of who I want to be that day. With these boots [that] are made for walking, I will stomp all over the patriarchy’s brainwashing bullshit in relation to the male gaze as it prohibits creativity.

The blog is truly a reflection of me as I am a woman who, through self-expression of fashion, lead me to a confidence that aligns with my firm stance as a third-wave feminist. As someone who does not aim to follow trends, as I feel like aimlessly changing my wardrobe to fit ever-changing fads would perpetuate the demon of fast fashion, which connotes a sense of support for the exploitation of workers, and the political side of me would be a mere performance. I feel it is important showcase the voices of others through my photography and interviews with fellow fashionistas.

This blog aims to display key tips that one can use to elevate an outfit, saving both your bank and subtly rejecting the notion that repeating outfits is a bad thing. The purpose of my blog is to share my (and others) knowledge and personal tastes for both fashion and politics

I encourage you to embrace your creativity in regard to fashion and take the pressure off of finding your personal style straight away because it doesn’t happen overnight and that’s okay. Remember how much fun you had playing dress-up as a child, it was messy but fabulous, let’s bring that feeling back.
